2018 was a year of the grandchild for Leon and Maryn Goodson. Leon tells us, "In May, 12- year-old Tessa from Seattle came east to Philadelphia with her prize-winning MESA team, so we fetched her from there for her usual two-week stay in the DC area. She refers to 2018 as the 'Year of the Declaration of Independence.' About the same time, first-born granddaughter Grace received a masters from the University of Edinburgh. (We had introduced her to Scotland 6 years earlier.) Next, we launched the great American road trip, driving to Illinois to meet up with 16-year-old Sophia and heading out for a Sophia-designed Civil Rights Tour from Montgomery to Little Rock, then to Oklahoma for a major family gathering after touring the Tar Creek super-fund site in NE Oklahoma, one of the nation's largest. 4,000 miles round trip! Back home in time to host the 8-year-old Seattle twins, Isaac and Pippa, for their first away-from-home visit. Good news is that 2019 will be the year of the great-grandchild--our first!"

When Russ MacDonald married Barbara in 1962, she was the proud owner of a 1957 Ford Thunderbird. As the years pasted and the family grew, the car got older and Russ prevailed on Barbara to sell the car. On their 20th wedding anniversary in 1982, Russ surprised Barbara with a 1957 T-bird. Russ put the car through a lengthy and complete, inside-and-out restoration. They now average 2500 miles per year including trips to national car shows where it has won 1st place awards in the Touring Class. This is the best picture of their Thunderbird that Russ has. It was just after he had prepped it for competition in the Classic Thunderbird Club International Convention in Knoxville, TN last August. They keep the car garaged and have it checked mechanically every year keeping it totally roadworthy. They drive the car to the competitions, which qualifies them for the Touring Class category.

Here is a picture of Nels Delisanti at his favorite pastime. He loved being on the water, racing, teaching, or just taking friends sailing on Puget Sound.
