NorthWest Falcons '60 2015

December 2015

On the 16th of December, we got together at Chandler's Crab House (a good deal at our age because they serve crabs there--which goes back to an old joke, "Do you serve crabs here? We serve anybody."). Attending were Nels, Vic and Suzanne, Bev O'Rourke, and Chuck and Edie. A good time was had by all.

November 2015

On the 24th of Nov, we got together for lunch at Salty's on Alki-with a great view of Seattle. Attending were Bobbi Mason Starr, Carolyn Luck, Louisa Congdon, Deke Johnson, (inspecting Det 13 [us] of VFW Post 63), Vic and Suzanne Yoakum, Nels Delisanti, and Chuck and Edie Diver.

September 2015

Chuck Diver reports: Since George died, the NW group has been in a funk for his doing that without consulting with us first. Clem Douglass visited the Northwest on a short inspection tour the end of September. Arriving on the 22nd and departing on the 25, which left two days to inspect the entire region. Sightseeing on the 23rd took him to all the little towns in the Skagit Valley, and on the 24th he and I went to lunch at Hector's in Kirkland to meet up with Vic Yoakum, Nels Delisanti, and Denny O'Keefe. Then back to Minnesota without buying an island.

Greeting to all of our Classmates!

The Northwest Falcons flew in (obviously a figure of speech) to Hector's in Kirkland for lunch on 24 Sep 15. In attendance were Vic Yoakum, Nels Delisante, Charlie Diver, Denny O'Keefe and Bill Zersen. Sometimes Deke comes in from Idaho, but he was not there today. We also missed three of our classmates that have departed us in the past couple of years (Jim O'Rourke, Ed Leonard and George Luck). Our group is becoming smaller!

We talked about almost everything until Denny brought us back to earth when he said: "How come no one has talked about any war stories today?" (or such words as that). I believe we all realized that perhaps, based on past gatherings, that there were no more war stories to tell! I wonder about all the other gatherings of our classmates if they are sensing the same situation.

One thing we did not miss was great food! I don't know about the others but my Dungeness Crab Benedict was superb!

Also, perhaps Nels specifically made it so he could show off his new cherry red mustang! Nels, are you reliving your 20s?

That's about it from the West. Right now Vic, Nels and Charlie are coming back for the reunion. However, we did talk about that perhaps the 60th reunion (for those of us that are still around) might be some place other than at the Academy--like Denver perhaps. Most of us are not looking for a big Academy raz-ma-taz, but a nice quiet time for us to renew old friendships and not be hassled by all the activities around an Academy reunion. What about a Thursday and Friday reunion with those interested in going to a football game leaving Saturday morning from Denver for the game?

Until our next gathering--------
