My '51 Chevy Pickup
by
Jerry Farquhar
My Fathers '51 was one of first cars I drove. This truck was found sitting behind a fence by the mailbox of a horse ranch in mountains west of Denver. My offer was accepted, and the truck was shipped to Florida.
The restoration started with the body's coming off of the frame, which was in perfect condition. The frame was cleaned and painted. The body had very little rust; so, a few small dents were fixed before it was painted and clear coated. Upgrades were: A new 383 cu stroker engine, rated at 400hp; a 700R4 transmission with overdrive; a 3.70 positrack rear end; power disc brakes; power steering; air conditioning; and new bucket seats.
It's a fast, comfortable, beautiful toy.
