2014 Mini-ski Reunion
MINISKI XXIV–2014
As was the case last year, MiniSki XXIV started off on President's weekend. And although the Utah snow was again on the light side and the temperature warmer than usual, we managed to find some excellent conditions to test the expertly honed skills of the group. On two separate days Brighton Resort presented us with some of the finest powder skiing we have found in many years. We visited four different local areas and were able to minimize the impact usually felt in Utah on Presidents' Weekend. Brighton, Deer Valley, Alta, and Solitude provided both fun and challenging locations. We might have set a new record as, for the second year in succession, everyone returned home in fine shape with no tweaks or booboos noted.
This year, the crowd consisted of: Greg Boyington, his son-in-law Jeff Lippa, grandson Reef; daughter Tiffany Bailey, friend June Colgan, June's daughter Michele, son-in-law Manoucher Cholmipour, their daughter Catherine, Carole & Andi Biancur; Howie Bronson; Al Johnson; Ralph Lalime, his son Jay, and neighbor Mike Jarosz (USN), Gene & Jane Vosika '59; Jerry delaCruz, his daughter AnnaMarie Vandenberk, granddaughter Anne-Sophie, and Ron Yates. We missed some of the usual regulars primarily due to a variety of reasons ranging from medical issues (temporary) and lack of realistic life priorities.
The Marginally Magnificent Performance Award for 2014 went to our President & CEO, Mr. Al Johnson, who once again demonstrated his unmatched navigational skills in one of the most unique maneuvers performed over the 24 years of MiniSki. Winning this award for the third time might be the charm that requires additional special recognition.
MiniSki XXV (2015) will mark the 25th consecutive year of this annual celebration devoted to the Class of '60, and friends, chasing the Snow Queen around the Utah ski slopes.
