Ray's HistoryRay now focuses the second half of his life on helping to grow the next generation of servant leaders. He is currently a Senior Fellow at The Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation, and Culture (www.waswhingtoninst.org) and teaches philosophy and worldview at Ad Fontes Academy high school. For the last four years he was an Adjunct Professor for Leadership and Business Ethics at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and was the Senior Mentor for the Air Force Senior Leaders Program before that. He also consultants, teaches, and speaks on leader development and writes an on line column for GovLeaders.org. Ray previously spent 35 years in public service hanging around young soldiers and then old soldiers in the Air Force and then the Department of Veterans Affairs. The last 17 of those years he served as a Senior Executive in charge of strategic planning, policy and human resources development. He earned a master's degree in economics from Central Missouri State University during his time underground with a Minuteman wing. He and his wife B.J. have been married for 47 years and have two grown children and five grandchildren and have put down deep roots in Mount Vernon Virginia for the past 37 years. They are active in Restoration Anglican Church as marriage mentors where Ray currently serves as a Warden. They enjoy outdoor activities including kayaking, biking, walking, and birding when arthritis allows. He is the author of numerous articles on leadership, character, vocation, and change management and is laboring to complete a long delayed examination of the parallels in the lives of William Wilberforce and Thomas Jefferson and the end of slavery.
