Class Of 1964 USAF Academy

Gerry's History

gerry.jpg Off I went into the Wild Blue Yonder: C-141, F-100, A-7, A-10, F-16. Two combat tours, more than 400 combat missions, Silver Star, three DFC's. Friday night happy hours at the Oclub, back when there were Oclubs: beer, cigars, darts, shuffleboard, dice cup. Retired as a Colonel in 1988; flew to the end.

Then off to United Airlines for a dozen years. Learned that AF life was much more fun, but that big-city life in Chicago can be a hoot. Good timing here as I upgraded to captain in a mere seven years. They threw me out in 2001 when I hit my 60th birthday.

Settled in Williamsburg, Virginia where I enjoy Windsor chairmaking, golfing, flyfishing, beekeeping, and book selling.

Special thanks to the Falcon Foundation for taking a chance on an iron-ore miner's son. Without their help I would not have found my way to the USAFA Class of “64. I'm very grateful to have served with such fine men.
