Phil's HistoryCaptain Phil Horton, USAFA Class of 1964, reported to the Academy on 27 June 1960 from South Bend, IN. While at the Academy, he was a member of the 14th Cadet Squadron. Following graduation, Phil reported to Undergraduate Pilot Training at Williams AFB, AZ. From 1965 to 1968 he was a C-124 pilot with the 31st Military Airlift Squadron at Dover AFB, DE. In 1968 and 1969, he served a combat tour of duty as a forward air controller with the 21st Tactical Air Support Squadron, Qui Nhon, South Vietnam. He returned to the states in 1969 and was assigned to Kelly AFB, TX as a C-124 pilot with the 19th Military Airlift Squadron. He resigned his commission on 28 February 1970. Following his Air Force career, Phil served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility with AT&T. He served as President of that corporation from 2001 until 2007. Phil is a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and fourteen Air Medals.
