Gone But Not Forgotten
Major Ronald E. Hulting, United States Air Force Academy Class of 1964, died of leukemia on 19 August 2009 in California.
Ron reported to the Academy from Geneseo, IL. While at the Academy, he was a member of the 23rd Cadet Squadron. Upon graduation, Ron was assigned to Undergraduate Pilot Training at Moody AFB, GA. From 1966 to early 1967, he was a pilot in the 22nd Tactical Fighter Squadron at Bitburg AB, Germany. From late 1967 to 1968, he was an F-4 pilot in the 435th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Ubon RTAB, Thailand. Following his combat tour of duty, Ron returned to the states and was assigned as a pilot/weapons officer/assistant wing weapons officer with the 7th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Holloman AFB, NM. In 1971, Ron was a student in Squadron Officer's School, Maxwell AFB, AL. From 1972 through 1976, Ron served as an exchange pilot and project officer flying A-4s, A-7s and F-4s at the Navy's VX-5 at China Lake NAS, CA. Ron resigned from the Air Force on 1 August 1975.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Ron attended law school at the University of Southern California, completing his degree in 1978. Thereafter, he served as an attorney in a number of law firms until 1990. He then formed his own law firm, The Law Office of Ronald E. Hulting in Montrose, CA. From 1993 to 2007, Ron was an attorney for the Social Security Administration in various California locations. In 2007 Ron returned to private practice in his own firm, Hulting Companies, Novato, CA.
Ron was awarded 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and 12 Air Medals and the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service in Southeast Asia. In addition to law school, Ron earned a master of science degree from Air Force Institute of Technology, and diplomas from Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Air Command and Staff College and Squadron Officers School.
