One Week to Go!

Basic Cadet Training (BCT) can roughly be divided into two phases.
1st BCT and 2nd BCT.

1st BCT is commonly remembered as the time in the Cadet Area, learning the basics about military life and getting some items taken care of for the start of the academic year: placement exams.

2nd BCT is commonly remembered as the time out in Jacks Valley.  This is where parents will flash back to scenes of "Officer and a Gentleman" and other movies where you picture the Obstacle Course, Confidence Course, etc.  As these events approach, I will try to give descriptions.

One odd item during 1st BCT is the Field Day.  This year, it should take place on Saturday, July 15th.  This is a time of athletics competitions, pitting squadron against squadron.  It's a fun time for the Basics to blow off a lot of steam and compete for their squadrons.  There are a variety of events including relays, tug-of-war, etc.  I went to my photos from last year and have linked them below.  If you want to see what happens that day, take a look at these shots from last year.  These photos should show you some of the competitions, as well as the Basics having some fun.

Warning:
These photos are big so you're load time for dial-up will be longer.
