"Our beloved husband and dad entered into eternal life this past Sunday, July 16. While I was in Wausau for a preplanned week of meetings and vacation, Bill's condition suddenly worsened and so I flew back to Sarasota Saturday to spend the evening with him and his caregiver. Daughter Ann arrived from DC Sunday noon and together we spent our last two hours with him while daughter Jill sent a beautiful phone message from WI.
"After Jill's nightmare experience with United trying to get here Monday, we three are finally together for a few days to plan a celebration of Bill's life to be held in Wausau probably not long after labor day."
Details about services for Bill will be posted here when available.
"Sadly, I have just been informed of the passing this morning of one of the more memorable and accomplished members of our ranks, Dr. [Col (Ret)] Dean Bristow.
"Along with his mobility issues, Dean had been suffering with congestive heart failure. A few weeks ago he fell, spiral fracturing his femur, which led to a significant operation from which he was unable to recover.
"Dean’s daughter Catherine stated that he was honored to know each of you, and being part of the Class of 1960 was one of the things he was most proud of.
"Services and interment in the Salt Lake area are tentatively scheduled for Friday, 21 July. The service will be broadcast by Dean’s church. Details will be forthcoming as soon as received. Please advise if you think you could attend, representing the Class."
UPDATE: Funeral services will be held on July 21, 2023 at The Mervyn Sharp Bennion Veterans Home at 11:00 a.m. with an hour of remembrance at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, interment will be at the Payson City Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, Dean requested donating to the Disabled American Veterans or Tunnel to Towers charities.
