Good Morning WebGal here.

It looks like it is gonna to be a scorcher today, the weather man said it was gonna hit 87. (hopefully your weather man is better than the one we have at home) I know for some of you that is not too hot, but remember I am from England so anything over 80 is boiling to me!

You know, I couldn't stop thinking last night about my trip to the Cadet area yesterday. The Cadets seemed more relaxed, like in the library and in Fairchild Hall the Cadets actually seemed like they were  "College Students" not "Cadets" it was nice to see some of the Cadets so relaxed compared to the previous weeks.

See WebGal's posting above.  Part of the reason for the change is the drastic shift to the academic year.  I know it seems obvious, but the Academy is indeed one of the top schools in the nation.  All of the cadets are now immersed in one of the most challenging curriculums around.

This "shift" is also caused by a physical boundary.  Please look at the map below.   The cadets live in Sijan Hall and Vandenberg Hall.  You notice there is white connecting the Terrazzo to Sijan and Vandy.  This is because the Terrazzo continues to run underneath the dorms, between the lower floors and the upper floors.

Now look at the gap between the Terrazzo and Fairchild.  There is a street that separates them at ground level, requiring the cadets to walk across one of two Terrazzo-level bridges.  This physical boundary is a transition point.  On the Terrazzo side, the freshman cadets still run the marble strips, shouting out greetings to the upperclass cadets.  Once they step on to one of the bridges, the freshmen no longer run (unless they are running late to class) and shout.  It is a drastic change.

Inside Fairchild, the fourthclass cadets do not have to walk along the walls at attention.  They walk from class to class like the rest of the cadet wing.

In Fairchild, education carries the day.
