Good morning.  Since today is a general repeat of yesterday, I'll try to step back and explain some items through the may be of interest.  Since yesterday was graphics heavy, today will be more textual.

One of the parents reminded me that the Academy Admissions page has a glossary of terms for the http://www.academyadmissions.com/intro/faq/glossary.php

Eating at Mitchell can be a very interesting experience, particularly when it is at max capacity during the school year.  During the summer, it almost seems lonely...

This photo from yesterday showed you the Basics at the table.

Normally, each meal will have milk, some type of punch, and water.  The metal container at the bottom of the picture is the very attractive ice holder.  You'll notice the dinner plates are now face up.  When the basics approach the table, the plates are face down.  Once they are seated, they flip the plates over.  At the top of each plate is the US Air Force Academy crest.  This crest is supposed to remain at the 12 o'clock position at all times.  You notice the cadet in the glasses.  She is sitting at attention, with her eyes focused on the Academy Crest at the top of the plate.

When you take a bite of food, the bite is supposed to be small.  This is to teach good manners.  Because if you are at a fancy affair, and you take a big bite, and someone asks you to pass the grey poupon, you don't want to be chewing for a long time.  To that end, the cadre keep a keen eye out for big bites.  In fact, a common practice is to watch a basic take a big bite and for the cadre member to call out, "Basic Doe!"  As Basic Doe starts chewing furiously and trying to swallow, the cadre will follow up with, "Pretty big bite you took there Basic Doe".  Once Basic Doe chokes out, "Yes, sir!", the lesson is learned.

Here is the wideshot of Mitchell Hall from yesterday.

I am shooting this picture from my position on the east side of Mitchell Hall.  The far wall is the west.  Outside those windows a cadet can see Sijan Hall.  To the left is another row of windows facing south.  To the right you see the partitions the Mitchell Hall staff set up to separate the Basics from the rest of the cadets here for the summer.

Here's a stray thought.  I was involved with the military for 15 years.  In all that time, I could never figure out how our military could build intercontinental ballistic missiles and cause the Soviet Union to implode, but could not design better glasses.

This is Arnold Hall.  Some of the squadrons went over for training there this afternoon.   There were Basics from G, H, and I there.  (Finally G).
I can't which is which.  But I'll be adding them shortly.
