I went up to the Cadet Area to catch the Interceptors at Clothing Issue, but they were not there.  They may have swapped a time out with someone else.  I did run in to some other folks at the other locations.  I'll post them after they are edited.

AND, I purposely staked out the Cadet Post Office.  I wanted to get photographic evidence of Basics picking up mail so I did not have to continue to refer to mail pickup in the same breath as the Loch Ness monster.   So, I have some photos and a video clip of a few Hellcats picking up mail.

At the Dental Clinic, I saw a flight standing outside waiting.  (alot of that in the military)
You'll notice from the pictures they are not reading any knowledge.  This is because they were listening to the cadre member was taking the time to teach them something verbally.  She was explaining the proper customs and courtesies towards other military members.  I asked one of the cadre which flight it was.
The cadre said Executioners, D Flight.

This next group was at Clothing Supply instead of the Interceptors.  When I asked a Basic, he said they were a bunch of Flying Tigers from different flights.  Just some people who had to come back to Clothing Issue for some extra items.  They were waiting just outside the entrance and were more than happy to mug for the camera.  That is why some of the photos are a bit more "casual".

These Basics were a riot.  It was a small group of Executioners, Flight A at a table outside of Uniform Issue.  Their cadre member was there, so they didn't know whether to stand at attention or smile for the camera.  The cadre member said they could relax and smile, but their was one Basic who stayed at attention the whole time.  Even after he was told directly he could relax and smile, he stayed at attention.  The close-up shot is of that Basic. (But he smiled)

And now for the mail pictures!
According to the cadre, these should be Squadron H, some of Flights A and D.

Conspiracy Theory 1
Wait a doggone minute!  How do I know these are really Basics getting mail.  Maybe these are upperclass cadets "pretending" to be Basics.  They could have shaved their heads and pulled out old USAFA shirts to make it "look like" the Basics are getting mail.   That's the ticket!

There were many flights out and about doing Flight Drill, but it looked as if they were being evaluated by inspectors so I kept out of the way.  Don't want to cause a flight to be downgraded.  On the way out of the area, I ran into a flight a snapped a couple of quick shots.  The cadre said it was Cobra - A Flight.

I was speaking a few minutes ago with our professional photographer who takes shots for the magazine and is the one taking shots for the our official photo galleries.  He mentioned he posted shots like this one.

I figured I better explain this.  Apparently, there was inclement weather, so the flights went under the cover of Fairchild Hall.  While temporarily there, the Basics engaged in contests.

Two Basics are placed at attention facing each other at a position of strict attention.  The first one to "lose their bearing" loses.  In the photo above, I'm guessing that the Basic on the right was winning, when the Basic on the left started to "lose it" and his cheeks puffed up.  This likely made the Basic on the right completely break-up.

Don't get it?  I admit that as I read this, it sounds pretty lame.  But you'd be surprised what can make you laugh when you're going through Basic Training.

I just posted tomorrow's schedule.  It's a Groundhog Day except that the PeakPhotographyUSAFA folks are snapping the first of the Squadron photos.  They take the Squadron Photo now, and the other shots in Jacks Valley.  Tomorrow, Squadrons A, B, C, D, E, F, and J get taken.  G, H, and I are on Friday.

That's about it for now.  Have a good evening.
