It's gonna be another warm day today.  Did anyone guess who the Basic was that saw me coming? Maybe a little later I will show him.

Acceptance Parade - I already posted that the Acceptance Parade will be on Aug 8th, starting at 0900.  The unknown has always been, "Will the Basics be able to see their families after the parade for any length of time"?  You may have already seen this on FAMNET, but here it is as a backup:

Below is an excerpt from a message from USAFA/CM, Director of Communications.
"Yes
, you will be able to spend a couple of hours with (our basic) following the Acceptance Parade on 8 Aug.  Parade begins at 9:00 a.m. and should last about an hour (parade is open to the public).  Following the parade, the basic cadets will be able to meet with their family and friends until about noon.  The next time the new Fourth Classmen can meet with family is during Parent’s Weekend over the Labor Day holiday, 1-4 Sep."

Also, here is an excerpt from a message from the USAFA Parents Club Coordinator.
"Parents will be able to spend an hour, or so, with their cadets after the parade. They cannot leave the Academy, though. You do not need a pass - just go through the North Gate (no guard at the gate) and proceed to the Field House. You can park there and will then have to walk over to Stillman Field (parade field)."

I still recommend you all be careful.  Policies change up here quickly.  I'm hoping the schedulers have coordinated with the Dean's office, Commandant's office, and Athletic Department to ensure these other agencies are not scheduling activities for them.

I am just going through pictures from this morning's shopping trip for the Aggressors. I will get them up as soon as I can.

I just saw the Jacks Valley March-Out Briefing.  The route is changed to the short route.  This will get them out there an hour early.  Here is the map.

WebGal may head out to the B-52 to snap some photos.

Someone emailed and asked "Who is Jack"?  As in Jacks Valley.
Fortunately, WebGuy's
brain is the repository of many obscure, uninteresting facts.

Here is a quote from The Air Force Academy An Illustrated History by George V. Fagan.
"The site is split into five main valleys.  The principal Academy installations have been located in the valleys and on top of the mesas.  The northernmost valley is Jack Valley, named for Cleo Jack who owned 480 acres of the land at one time.  It is now used as a maneuver area for the Cadet Basic Summer Training Program.  The cadets refer to it as "Jack's Valley...".

zzzzzzzzzz.....

Kidding.  I am a big History buff so I find love this kind of information.

Star Wars XX - The Return of the Clips
I moved just about all of those 17th Clips to a new server, so the rolling blackouts should be ending.

I will soon post four squadrons marching to lunch that WebGal caught on the 18th - A, D, G, I.  Why those squadrons?  They came through the set of doors where she was standing.  The other squadrons went through the other doors.

These clips, like the 17th Clips, will come on automatically when you click on the link.  If you get audio only, download the Flash Player at:

I just posted tomorrow's schedule.
Couple of Notes:
(1) Inclement Weather Plan - If severe lightning/rain, the Basics will be transported to Jack's Valley
(2) I did not post the Jack's Valley meal schedule.  Because of the smaller, mobile facilities, meals in Jack's  Valley are served in two overlapping shifts.

WebGal just left for the evening, and I'll soon follow.  I may check in sometime late this evening, but it depends on the honey-do list when I get home.
Have a good evening.
