Aloha!  Oops - wrong state.  I received emails from many of you wishing me a great vacation.  Thank you!  I also wanted to clarify something.  I typed in before I was heading to a family reunion.  But I didn't mention where.  It's not in Jersey, but rather in sunny Florida!  My relatives are flying in from Atlantic City's airport to Orlando on Sunday and we'll "reunion-ize" or "Disney-ize" for a week.

So, we arrived in Fort Lauderdale at 1AM on Wednesday morning.  We got the rental car, drove to the motel, slept for a few hours, then got up and drove all the way to Key West.  (Note: On the bright side, I got more sleep than I did as WebGuy.)

Why Key West?  Well, my wife wanted to drive halfway into the Florida Keys to show them the scenery, bridges, etc.  But once we got halfway, my spider sense began tingling.  Recalling my Academy political science courses and my years a Russian Analyst for the Air Force, my mission became clear.  I must get to Key West.  I continued driving...and driving.
"No, kids, we aren't stopping for the bathroom.  We're on a mission!"

Finally, we made it to Key West.  I continued driving until I found the marker denoting the
southernmost point in the CONUS (Continental U.S.).  As I stood there, staring over the waters, I could complete my mission.

I raised my arm...Curled my hand into a fist...and proceeded to yell.
"Democracy will get there someday Fidel.  And when it does, look out!"
(At that location, Cuba is only 90 miles away)

I turned around, got back in the car, and started to drive back to the mainland.  My wife shook her head, but did not say a word.  She merely looked at me, looked back at the kids, and said "I hope it's not genetic!"

Good Morning, Hopefully today will be a better day than yesterday! at the moment it is in the 70's however I am confident it will warm up pretty quickly.  The Mountains look beautiful as usual.

Late yesterday I went to Airmanship Day. I had a great time as does all of the Basic's. I was told that all Basic's get to fly in one of the plane thingy's!

here are the first group of Basic's having a tour. they are Demon's, Squadron Demon's.

Before I head out for sightseeing, a few folks last year asked us for gift ideas for their basic.  Of course the Warrior Photo has been posted for weeks now.  Another item I linked last night off the 2010 main page - a       flag flown on Acceptance Day at Doolittle Hall by Academy Mementos.  Another item was an "I Survived the Beast" T-shirt over at the Gift Shop at Arnold Hall.  I'll ask WebGal to get the details about it and post it.  It was an interesting looking shirt.  We'll keep our eyes out for anything else.

I am leaving to get some well needed exercise.  Jacks Valley here I come, and I am not afraid!

I am back from Jacks Valley, I really think I lost a minimum of 10 pounds again!  I did manage to speak to a couple of Basics and I asked them what they wanted to say to you all. " we are having fun, almost at the end of BCT and I LOVE YOU!

I posted the schedule for tomorrow.  The only real difference is the normal Friday night "Personal Time or Chapel".  Everything else looks the same.
By the way, WebGuy, the Skipper too, (sung to Gilligan's Island Theme) and the rest, spent the day at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo.  I give it two thumbs up.

we finally made it back for our trip, it took a lot longer than we had anticipated. I was lucky and never fell in the water even though my family tried several times to push me in, they did however all seven of them ganged up on me and got me very wet. As promised I will post some more pictures. Sorry it is so late.

2225 MDT

I meant to send these pictures earlier, they are more Demons waiting for a briefing. Some of the Basic's are making the most of it, taking 40 winks.

.

2230 MDT

Watching these Basic's sleep is making me sleepy, so I think I will go and take 40 winks (a lot more than 40 winks I hope) See you tomorrow.
