I'm going to call it a night.
Have a good evening.

Gotta love it.

The second member photo gallery is up at
www.usafa.org. It
looks like he put up 109 photos of the Swearing-In.
Product Hints:
Throughout Basic, if I see an neat item that I think you
would be interested, I'll try to let you know. Last
year, one fun item was a T-shirt from the Arnold Hall Gift
Shop that said, "I Survived the Beast". I laughed at
it when I first saw it because I remembered my BCT. I
saw it his year at a table on the first floor during
Inprocessing, so they must they must be seeing it again.
I'll call over there and get some more details.
Also at Inprocessing, I saw the Postal Service Table.
They had an advertisement about a service where parents can
send cards to Cadets from their homes and vice versa.
I asked them to send me a copy of the form electronically so
I could link to it from here. Here is what they sent.

I just activated the schedule for tomorrow.
The Basics receive a briefing from the Academy
Superintendent, Lt Gen Regni in the late afternoon.

In the photos, did you notice the Basics were
wearing running shoes with BDUs? This is not meant to
kick off a new fashion statement that will sweep America.
Instead, it is a boot "phase-in" period. They wear
running shoes in the morning, then change into combat boots
at lunch.

I just checked the Member's Photo Galleries
section on the AOG website.

A 2010 Inprocessing Photo
Gallery with 107 photos is posted.
Here are some more pictures I took today after the Squadrons
split up.

I've just placed two larger clips up. These are
the squadrons marching past the USAFA staff and parents
after the Swearing-In was over.
Swearing-In Marching A
- D shows Squadrons A through D.
Swearing-In Marching E - J shows Squadrons E through J.
You can hear the marching commands "Left, Right, Left" in
addition to a parent making a strange noise in the
background. I think it is a bird call that maybe their
cadet would recognize. At least, I hope that's what it
was.

The Academy Spirit Newspaper comes out on Friday. Here

I just received a note from a parent that the clip worked.
She wrote that it took 106 seconds to download.

Here is something I've never tried before.
If you have a fast internet connection, click on this
link and see if you can see the Swearing-In Oath. I've
never done this before so its 50-50 on whether it will work.

not have had enough water.

After the ceremony, the squadrons formed up in front of
Vandenberg Hall (dormitory). Since each squadron had a
different task for the morning, they went their separate
ways. Here are some photos from the form-up.
Note the Red Hats:
As I mentioned in the Countdown to Inprocessing, each class
has Class Color. The four colors are Gold; Silver;
Blue; and Red. Since 2006 (Red Class) graduated, 2010
is a Red Class.
Notice the drinking from canteens:
When I was a Basic, it seemed like they told us to drink
from our canteen every 10 minutes. This medical
necessity continues today. Families, when you come to
visit, you need to do the same.
Notice the Cadre Member in the first picture in the third
row below.
Question: He is either
(a) explaining to the Basics how many feet they have;
(b) calling for world peace;
(c) telling them when an upperclassman holds up his fingers
like that, it means to stop speaking.
Answer: c

The Swearing-In Ceremony began at 0830. First, the
Basics marched on in squadron order, A - J, and faced the
Chapel Wall. They are dressed in BDUs.
(Battle Dress Uniform -- the green one). The ceremony
began with the narrator mentioning the distinguished guests
and explaining what was going on. Next, the Basics
were ordered to "About Face" to face the flagpole. The
flag was raised. Then, Basics did another "About Face"
and faced the Chapel Wall again. General Susan
Desjardins, the Commandant, explained the meaning of the
Oath. The Basics raised their right hands and repeated
the Oath after the General. Once completed, the
parents cheered and the Basics marched away.

Good Morning. Sorry for the delay. I went up the
Cadet Area to take a look at the Swearing-In Ceremony.
I'll post some items shortly.
By the way. It was very sunny and hot up there.
